Women's Empowerment tips: Positive thinking extends life!

I have been a believer of the power of positive thinking and living.
No we cannot just participate in positive thinking and believe that
is the solution and everything will manifest magically, however, this
coupled with other life skill sets will greatly enhace the results you
receive from any endeavor to live your best empowered life, an
extraordinary life.

I'm sharing an article that provides proof of the power of
positive thinking.

Scientists have come up with proof of the power of positive thinking.

They have found people who have a sunny, optimistic outlook on growing older live longer than those who are constantly worrying.

Positive self-perceptions can prolong life expectancy

Yale University researchers

The research suggests that people who feel bad about getting old accelerate the ageing process.

In contrast a positive attitude will add more years to your life than not smoking or taking regular exercise.

A team of American psychologists found that people who were positive about ageing lived an average of 7.5 years longer than those who regretted the passing years.

They believe that negative thoughts about the ageing process have a direct impact on the will to live.

Better than low blood pressure

The researchers, led by Dr Becca Levy, from Yale University, in Connecticut, said the effect of a positive attitude towards ageing was greater than physiological measures such as low blood pressure and cholesterol - each of which is thought to add a maximum of four years to life.

The effect was even more pronounced than factors such as keeping weight down, not smoking and taking exercise - each thought to add between one and three years to life.

The researchers studied information from 660 volunteers aged fifty plus.

Death rates among the participants were compared with their responses to a survey conducted 23 years earlier.

The volunteers were asked if they agreed or disagreed to statements such as "as you get older, you are less useful".

Dr Levy's team believe the sheer will to live partly explains the link between positive thinking and longevity. However, they don't think it is the only reason.


They believe another factor is the effect of stress on the heart.

Previous research has shown that the hearts and arteries of elderly people exposed to negative ageing stereotypes do not respond well to stress.

People could have negative thoughts about aging picked up from society without even being aware of them, said the researchers.

"Our study carries two messages," they wrote.

"The discouraging one is that negative self-perceptions can diminish life expectancy.

"The encouraging one is that positive self-perceptions can prolong life expectancy."

The researchers warn that a poor attitude towards the elderly in Western societies may exacerbate the problems. It is time to stop knocking the old, they say, and make them feel good.

The research is published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

You want success. You want financial security, good health,
healthy relationships, a stronger faith, to be able to say no
without feeling guilty. Yes, we want so many things and our
inability to accomplish the above leaves us feeling overwhelmed
and just frustrated. This adds to our stress level. The bottom
line here is all things considered does it boil down to the three
things as Jack Murray suggests above?

If you're like me you have vowed to be more proactive about
making change in your health and it begins with you.

One of the major causes of death in America are Heart attacks.
We must change our habits. Your daily habits are contributing
factors to your success or failure in any area of life.

Future Youth talks about this in the following paragraph --
Eliminating hurtful habits You've finished your
Mediterranean-style mackerel and plan to relax with a glass of chianti and a good smoke-- maybe you'd better revise your plan. Heavy drinking (more than
two beers, two one-ounce shots of whiskey, etc., a day) and smoking go
hand in hand with high blood pressure and being overweight.
Separately or combined, these health risks increase the likelihood of developing heart disease."

Is there something bothering you? Something you don't like or are
tired of ?

Deal with
What can you do to take an active approach to improve upon your situation?
Will it require additional resources,training,coaching etc. ?

Get over it
If it’s not a major you may just have to get over it. Many times we spend
our lives majoring on the minors. Categorize the problem and if you find
that it’s a minor you may just have to get over it and move on.

Learn to live with it
Is this something you can learn to live with? Only you know if you are discounting yourself by choosing this option, however, it is one to look at.
If choosing one of the other two causes added stress or creates negatives more than just simply learning to live with it then this may be your choice for a period.

For instance you may find that while adjusting to your child’s lack of responsibility by implementing learned skills to assist him in improving that you need to learn your own skills to live with it where it doesn’t drain your energies or break the peace. This is not one of my favorites, however, it is an option and can be a positive depending on how you use it. In this example instead of passively acting out one of the three by default you are actively choosing one of the three.

You can deal with it, get over it or learn to live with it. Just remember whatever you choose you must take responsibility for your choice. Whatever you do don’t just sit there and watch it happen, take action. Even the simplest action may be to answer this question “What are you going to do about it?”

Are you living the life that you’ve hoped to live? What’s holding you back?
Many women are feeling powerless only because they have given their personal power over to friends, professionals, the media etc. Empowerment is a choice and you must make the choice to live your best empowered life. This can only come about by your pursuit of the keys necessary to manifest
an empowered life.

There are also things that you must eliminate if you are going to reclaim your life and realize dreams come true and the best of you.

Here are 3 things you must avoid

Procrastination is a thief of time and once it’s gone you can’t get it back so learn ways to stop procrastinating. In my eBook The dynamic power of focus I give the definition of procrastination which includes laziness. Yes Laziness! Sometimes we resort to procrastination because we simply don’t desire to do something. Another thing is it has been determined that procrastination also happens because of a person’s experience with an event or task and it didn’t give the desired results so the individual resists doing the task because of a past negative experience.

Toxic people
Have you heard the saying that evil communication corrupts good manners? Well I’m not saying that toxic people are people with evil communication, however, if it will help you avoid or move toxic people away from you it’s a good way to look at it. You cannot move forward in life surrounded by toxic, negative people.

Lack of vision
A person without vision is like a person going on a trip without any idea of how to get there. They travel aimlessly asking everyone with whom they come in contact with. The funny thing about this is that some people really don’t have the answer but because of pride will not tell you this and just give you an answer to suit their fancy, however, you end up worse off. You must craft your vision if you are serious about arriving at your desired destination.

Now that I’ve given you three things you must avoid. Let me share with you three things you must do.

Take action today
There is no time like the present. There is a quote that says “Don’t look back one year from now wishing you had begun today.” You can read all the books you want, attend every teleseminar or workshop,however, without action it means nothing. Make a commitment to do one thing that will dramatically affect the other areas in your life.

Create positive environments
Your environments must support what you are doing. There are about seven environments which include your physical, spiritual and the environment of you. Look around you is your physical environment supportive of your goals. Is it organized, free of clutter or do you have to step over things, spend too much time looking for items etc. A physical environment free of clutter will also enhance your mind. Try it, clear up your physical space and watch the sense of freedom you feel.

Discover your life purpose
Knowing your life purpose will also assist you in developing your vision. When you don’t know your life purpose in essence you are moving about without a navigation system. One thing I often tell individuals to do to help start them out is to think about something that you have a passion for. What is it that you would do and enjoy doing even if you weren’t paid to do it? There are other assessments and tools that I make available to my clients to further assist them in discovering their purpose and crafting a vision statement. Living on purpose will maximize your empowerment!
How can you use the information above to maximize your empowerment? Pick one or two things and revisit them within a week to monitor your progress.

Let’s face it we will all face challenges, disappointments, pain and possibly fear during our lifetime. Some of us handle it easier than others or at least we’ve learned some skills to take on our daily challenges and excel regardless of circumstances. I see many women who desire to lead empowered lives but lack the necessary keys to achieve this.

There are two things essential to anyone to manifest maximum empowerment and I call them the two C’s they are Confidence and courage. These are two power-houses that when a woman gets a grip on these she can just about accomplish anything she sets her mind to. Of course there are a few others just as essential but for now we’re going to focus on these two.

Courage is defined as mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. Yes! That’s what we need in the face of any challenge, danger, fear or difficulty we need to have mental or moral strength to venture, persevere and withstand. This is a learned skill, you don’t just get up one day and have this ability. What you must do is continue to face each situation with a determination to win! You build your courage each time you resist fainting, giving up or yielding to the pressure of the danger, fear or difficulty. You must have willpower.

Other things needed are to surround your self with positive people, keep positive thoughts, build self confidence and reignite your passion. There are other life skill sets that you can learn to facilitate courage in your life, I’ve given you a few to start with.

Now let’s talk about confidence and in this instance we’re going to refer to self confidence and it is defined as; confidence in oneself and in one's powers and abilities.
I’m not talking about arrogance as this is not a quality and you may not have too many friends or people that enjoy your company. This is what you must have to manifest maximum empowerment. This is the energy that will drive you along with courage to supersede everyone who does not have this quality. Self confidence will set you apart from others. You exude an aura that draws clients and customers towards you.

Even in your relationships you will notice that you have healthier relationships because you don’t have a need to front and always be in a mode of being pretentious because you are self confident. You know the qualities that you have, you know your purpose, you have a plan, goals, a vision and mission outlined. There’s something about a woman of confidence and you’ll know her when you see her.
Don’t worry if you don’t display this character yet, all you have to do is begin today .

Here are a few ways to boost your self confidence
Shift to a success mindset
Learn to love yourself
Begin practicing self talk
Get rid of the negatives
Surround yourself with people that lift you
Know that you are a one of a kind gift of God

When you step out with confidence and courage, there is no way you will yield to everyday circumstances and life’s challenges you are equipped and unstoppable, you are a woman with maximum empowerment.
